April 5th, 1975

April 5th, 1975 is a date that holds symbolism with the actions of the United States government and gold. It's also Satoshi Nakamoto's birthday. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Happy 49th birthday Satoshi Nakamoto!

Yesterday, April 5th was the alleged 49th birthday of the pseudonymous Bitcoin founder. While we still don’t know anything about their actual identity, they registered a birthday with the P2P foundation as April 5th, 1975.

Since we don’t know who Satoshi Nakamoto really is we cannot be sure this is their real birthday, but the date is marked by specific symbolism surrounding currency within the United States.

The anniversary of Executive Order 6102, when President Franklin D. Roosevelt banned the private ownership of gold within the United States occurred on April 5th, 1933. Satoshi chose April 5th to be the day they were born as an ode to this measure.

Through the technology that Bitcoin provides, any sort of similar executive order would be nearly impossible to carry out without going door to door and demanding citizens to unlock access to their Bitcoin wallets. While possible on a technical scale, this wouldn’t be remotely feasible nor would it prevent citizens from memorizing their seed phrases and refusing to tell enforcers the 12 or 24-word codes stored within their minds.

Note one point for Satoshi with this act of symbolism.

The birth year of 1975 also holds symbolism regarding Executive Order 6102. The year is an homage to President Gerald Ford who repealed the executive order in 1974 with it becoming effective on December 31st, 1974–basically 1975.

Another point for Satoshi on the scoreboard of symbolism.

It’s fun to speculate on the meaning Satoshi Nakamoto meant with their chosen birthday. Interestingly enough, April 5th, 1975 could be their actual birthday but how coincidental would that be?

What are the chances the creator of the freest, inflation-proof, and humanity-saving currency of Bitcoin has birth ties to the infamous act where the United States government stole gold out of the households of its citizens under the guise of civic duty?

Seems to be too much of a coincidence.

I like the vision that Satoshi knew exactly what they were doing when they registered their birthday to be April 5th, 1975. They knew exactly what they created and wanted one additional easter egg pointing at the overreaching actions of the government and the malicious clutches of government-controlled currency.

The mystery surrounding the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto continues to puzzle people around the world and provides opportunities for speculation to run rampant. The reality of the pseudonym, Satoshi Nakamoto, is that we don’t need to know who they are.

The world is better off not knowing.

Satoshi gave the world the gift of Bitcoin and disappeared to let their seedling grow. Through the network effect of people around the world turning to Bitcoin in the face of failing fiat currencies, Satoshi’s desire to offer humanity a solution is becoming more true every day.

We are all Satoshi.

Happy Birthday Satoshi Nakamoto, the world is indebted to you.
